Thursday 20th of October it was possible to both explore Norwegian contemporary art and listen to Norwegian jazz in Istanbul. The exhibition “Contemporary Norwegian Craft” was opened by Ambassador Janis Bjørn Kanavin at Galleri Bir-Nokta. Later the same evening the jazz trio “Telling Stories About Trees” performed at Borusan Center of Culture and Arts.

Today one hundred years have passed since Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen and his expedition became the first to reach the South Pole. In a speech at the South Pole Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg today honoured Amundsen and his men. He also paid tribute to the bravery of British explorer Robert F. Scott and his expedition.

Norwegian - Danish duo Ingar Dragseth and Michael Elmgreen participate in the 12th Istanbul Biennial this autumn. Their installation “The Incidental Self” consists of 500 smaller framed photographs of various gay cultural and everyday life situations on display.
