Consulate in Antalya closing

Last updated: 23/01/2012 // The Norwegian Embassy in Ankara would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere thanks for the dedicated work of the now retired Honorary Consul Mr. Yusuf Ata Küner during his years of service. Mr. Küner has been working as a Honorary Consul since April 1995, and he has done an excellent job in representing Norway and Norwegian interest in Antalya and the region. In February 2007 he was appointed as a Officer of Royal Norwegian Order of Merit.

The consulate in Antalya will be closed from January 23rd 2012, and the address and opening date for the new consulate will be published on the embassy’s webpage in the near future. At the same time we would like to introduce the new Norwegian Honorary Consul in Antalya, Mr. Burak Tonbul.

Monday 23rd Ambassador Janis Bjørn Kanavin went to Antalya to meet both the new and the outgoing Honorary Consul in Antalya. Wednesday 25th he payed a visit to the Norwegian Consulate in Alanya.

The same evening, the Ambassador participated in a meeting in the Norwegian Church Abroad in Alanya. The response from the Norwegian community in Alanya exceeded the expectations, around 110 people attended the meeting in the church Wednesday evening. The Ambassador introduced Norway’s involvement in Turkey, and afterwards the participants used the opportunity to ask questions to both the Ambassador and Attaché Laila Ranheim Sakızçiçeği.
